Listening to understand.
I am working toward licensure in Clinical Social Work under the supervision of
Tanya Clausen, LCSW.
My experience is focused on complex and developmental trauma, anxiety, depression, anger, grief, addiction and major life transitions. I am trained in EMDR, with the goal of becoming a certified EMDR therapist. I am skilled at collaborating with my clients to help them identify and achieve their individual goals. Through a joint effort that includes deep listening, questions and feedback, I work to help my clients achieve clarity and balance in their minds and bodies.
I have spent most of my professional life working as a journalist for Reuters, specializing in Latin America. My ongoing experience with journalist-related trauma sparked my interest in mental health, and I began working toward a career transition to therapy.
I received my Masters of Social Work from Catholic University in 2022. I completed my clinical internship with TASSC International, a Washington DC-based non-profit working with survivors of torture seeking asylum in the United States. At TASSC, I collaborated with my clients to support them in navigating the U.S. immigration system while processing feelings of grief, loss, depression, fear and anxiety.
I currently volunteer as a Therapy Resident for Give an Hour, a national organization that provides mental health resources for active duty military, veterans and military families. I also volunteer at Friends of Guest House, a residential reentry program supporting previously incarcerated women as they transition to society. In these roles, I help my clients understand how past traumas may have contributed to present thoughts and behaviors. Together, we address the past, present and future to help establish functional patterns that lead to increased self-connection and self-esteem.
